Bobcat in its Cat Fancy pose!

Turn your back on Cat Fancy magazine!

So you think you need Cat Fancy to get your monthly "fix" of domestic cat information? Think again. Check these magazines out...

Catnip
Catnip is a monthly newsletter for cat owners and enthusiasts from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. It's pictures are all black-and-white, and the paper is not glossy, but the information is excellent, and it's not filled with any useless fluff or advertising--it's all useful content.

CatWatch
CatWatch is about the same size as Catnip, but it has the same kind of top-quality informational content, and color pictures. It's a product of Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine. They also have a very good companion website where you can actually read articles on-line if you're a subscriber.

You won't find glossy centerfold photos of cats (or page after page of advertising) in either of these magazines like you will in Cat Fancy, but who needs those?

If you have a different favorite cat magazine (other than Cat Fancy or any other BowTie publication) then and tell us about it--maybe we'll feature it here as another favorite alternative.
