In floor debate on 02-05-2007, Langemeier responded to a question about how a wolf-dog hybrid can be identified from any other kind of dog:
"In my discussion with the Humane Society, is they said they could identify them. And that's what Dr. Katz had testified to in the committee."

FACT:
There was no discussion at any time during the Agriculture Committee hearing on LB25 of whether or not it's possible to identify a wolf-dog hybrid. In fact, Exhibit #2 (provided by Dr. Katz) specifically states otherwise:
"There is no test currently available that will differentiate a hybrid from a dog or a wolf. Animal control agencies often must rely solely on the word of the owner in determining whether or not an animal is a wolf hybrid."

In the Agriculture Committee hearing on 01-16-2007, Langemeier stated:
"This bill in no way is intended to ban any particular breeds from the state of Nebraska."
Later in his statements to the Committee, he said: "As the introducer of this bill, I am aware there is no vaccine available for hybrid animals..."

FACTS:
LB25 (the bill he wrote and introduced) does the following (among others):
1) Requires all hybrid animals in Nebraska to be vaccinated with a rabies vaccine that he knows does not exist, and
2) Requires all hybrid animals that are not vaccinated with this mythical vaccine to be removed from the state or destroyed 1 year after the bill becomes law. (E.g., they are prohibited.)

Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary defines the word "ban" as follows: "to prohibit esp. by legal or social pressure"
In the floor debate of 02-05-2007, Senator Langemeier said:
"...we narrowed it down through the ammendments down to the wolf hybrid, to keep them to the same standards that each of you have to keep your pets, whether it be your dog or your cat..."
FACTS:
As pointed out by Senator Cornett in that floor debate, a domestic dog is not killed if it's found by animal control to not be properly vaccinated for rabies. However, under LB25, an animal thought to be a wolf-dog hybrid WOULD be killed. The so-called hybrid animals would thus be held to a much higher standard than our domestics are.
