Servals come to Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha

For those of us serval enthusiasts who live in eastern Nebraska, the closest place to see a serval in-person now is probably to visit the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. Around the first of the year (2007) they moved a pair of servals into the display in the Desert Dome where caracals had been kept earlier.

The serval enclosure looks down onto a display of meerkats and klipspringers.

For those of you unfamiliar with this zoo, their cats are spread out in four different places. So if you go there wanting to see all their cats, be prepared to do a lot of walking--
