People contemplating bringing an exotic cat into their lives need to think not in terms of what a kitten is today but in terms of the adult cat it will be when it grows up, when they're making the decision of whether (or not) to get one. We need to prevent people from getting a kitten today just because it's "cute." But we need to do that without simplemindedly banning them altogether--which does not help the cats, deprives both humans and cats of mutually-enriching relationships with each other, and will ultimately result in the extinction of many cat species from the face of the earth if recent trends in enacting more and more bans continues.
